General Information & Demographics

Designed to appeal to people who actively work with clay, Clay Times began as an 8-page black-and-white newsletter in early 1995. Following an enthusiastic reader response and requests for advertising opportunities, the publication was transformed into a full-color magazine in December, 1995 and has since grown into a 68-page bimonthly publication.

Each issue of Clay Times reaches more than 18,000 readers via subscriptions across the United States, Canada, and abroad. Resale issues are also distributed through clay business retailers and select book stores such as Barnes & Noble, Borders, Books-a-Million, Encore, Hastings, and many others.

Mission

The mission of Clay Times is to share current ceramic news and useful techniques with clay artists at all levels, while covering the full spectrum of subjects relating to pottery and the ceramic arts. A typical issue features:

Special Position

Careful consideration is given to the location of each ad to place it in a section of the magazine most relevant to the product or service offered.

Requests for special ad positioning will be honored when available. Add 15%.

Bleeds

Full-page dvertisements that measure slightly larger than the above-listed dimensions are considered bleeds, now offered at NO EXTRA CHARGE!

Advance payment discount

A 5% pre-payment discount is available to any repeat advertiser or agency who provides full, advance payment per issue for an advertising order by the materials closing date specified for that issue. (Sorry, we can't make exceptions to the pre-payment deadline, but we do accept all major credit cards for advance payment.)

Clay Times is published bimonthly, with six double-month issues per year (Jan./Feb., March/April, May/June, July/August, Sept./Oct., Nov./Dec.). Ads usually must be reserved by the 7th of the month, two months prior, and received by 14th two months prior as follows:

Become a Clay Times resaler and keep 40% of every issue you sell.

Our resalers almost always sell all of their copies of Clay Times ... yet if for some reason you don't, just return any unsold issues to us in good condition via priority mail, and we'll give you a full credit for the returned magazines against your next shipment.

To request resale issues, please call (540) 882-3576 to let us know your shipping address and the quantity of magazines you'd like to stock per issue. (Most businesses start out with 6 to 12 copies.)

The cover price of each issue is $7.50, but as a Clay Times resaler you retain 40% of the sale price for your business.
